Job Summary:

A Work Study Stagehand will assist the Performing Arts department in day-to-day operations within the department as well as assisting in production-based tasks for music recitals, theatrical productions, and other events. The purpose of this position is to give students valuable experience in an event production environment while mutually benefitting the department in moving productions forward and staffing events of the department.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Including but not limited to:

Office Tasks:
Copying/Scanning Documents
Printing copies, posters, and other documents sent from faculty/staff
Replenishing office supply stock and communicating when stocks are low
Maintaining the condition of the Studio Blackbox Theatre and King Center fifth floor common areas
Assisting in technological tasks for faculty/staff (troubleshooting printers, projectors, etc)
Hang posters for departmental events around campus and surrounding areas
Design posters (occasional)
Updating costume, flat, and prop inventories
Folding programs for recitals

Production Tasks:
Hanging, focusing, troubleshooting, and designing lights for events
Audio set up, live event mixing, QLab operation
Theatrical rigging
Set carpentry, scenic painting
House management for events
Staffing for events (this is variable, definitely plays into Students' individual skills)

Minimum Qualifications:

All CCD Work Study eligibility requirements must be met.
A general knowledge of/appreciation for theatre and music.

Preferred Qualifications:

6 months of theatre/stagehand/concert "roadie" experience (could be high school theatre/music program experience or professional)
6 months of customer service experience
Graphic design experience (Adobe Photoshop, Canva, etc)
Major in Theatre, Music, Record Arts preferred

This role will allow the student to gain valuable event/concert/theatrical production experience in a proper learning environment, and it will teach valuable skills in the paperwork side of theatre/music production that beginning artists typically don't experience. This position aims to teach personal responsibility, accountability, and time management skills, which are imperative in any career.

This position is fantastic for a creative person who can handle a fast paced environment, enjoy tasks which require fine motor skills or a designer's eye, can learn quickly, isn't afraid to fail or be told "No", and works well in teams.

Temporary Hourly: Engineering Lab Assistant - Science, Engineering, and Math Division

The Science, Engineering, and Math Division serves a wide-ranging student population, from students currently in high school to adult learners returning to education after many years. Our division strives to assist all students and visitors who call or come into our office. The Engineering Lab Assistant helps PPSC engineering instructors prepare for, conduct, and clean up after engineering design labs. A workload of up to 20 hours per week is anticipated. This work will take place at both the Centennial and Rampart campuses. Because this work directly supports scheduled engineering labs, the student must be on-campus, in the lab classroom prior to, during and immediately following the lab. Other support activities will be necessary and can be performed at times convenient to the Lab Assistant and the faculty.  Ability to work evenings and travel to multiple campuses to support student and department needs. This position is temporary part-time, not to exceed 28 hours per week.
