We are looking for a dynamic, passionate, dedicated individual who will lead and implement LCC’s strategic plan.

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking an energetic, highly organized, dynamic professional to join our team. Our institution provides the highest quality education and service excellence in an environment of care, support, mutual respect, and integrity. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt head coaching position. The successful candidate will have a background of coaching that will allow them to be responsible for the operation and management of the Women’s Basketball program including recruiting, scheduling, planning, organizing, budgeting, and promoting LCC Athletics.

As an employee of, and the Colorado Community College System, this position is required to uphold and enforce the policies of LCC and CCCS, and all local, state and federal laws. This position will comply with all student privacy laws (FERPA); and is a mandatory reporter of any suspected illegal activity.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Direct the instruction of student athletes in proper technique in games and practices
  2. Direct the instruction of specific and individual skill development for student athletes
  3. Instruct student-athletes in the guidance of physical health for athletes including weight and cardio training
  4. Monitor the academic progress of student athletes, including study tables and securing tutors
  5. Direct team building strategies and activities including community activities
  6. Promote team safety in all aspects of sports management
  7. Direct practice sessions according to scheduled times.
  8. Take the lead in team building strategies and activities
  9. Design, supervise, and instruct practice sessions
  10. Make the necessary arrangements for traveling to scheduled intercollegiate events
  11. Responsible for all game management for home events
  12. Take the responsibility of recruitment and retention of prospective student athletes
  13. Follow NJCAA requirements with signing and paperwork in the recruiting process
  14. Monitor the academic progress of student athletes
  15. Direct the planning, organizing, and operation of team and individual camps
  16. Promote community interest in the athletic program by being actively involved in community activities that display or demonstrate interest in the College’s programs
  17. Participate in HLC and accreditation activities for the college including team assignments, action project assignments, Conversation Day, etc.
  18. Demonstrate sportsmanship at all times
  19. Comply with all requirements of FERPA, Title IX, Clery, policies of the institution, the Colorado Community College System, and all local, state and federal laws while performing the required duties of the position
  20. Serve on other institutional committees as assigned
  21. Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree Required
  2. Basketball coaching experience required (min 3 years)
  3. Experience playing basketball at the collegiate level
  4. Must be student-centered with a desire to assist in developing young women as athletes, students, and people of good character
  5. Possess strong organizational skills
  6. Ability to manage a budget and fundraise to assist your program
  7. Must hold or be able to acquire a Colorado commercial driver’s license (Class C with Passenger Endorsement)
  8. Willing and able to work evening and weekend hours as required
  9. Ability to recruit Colorado student athletes as well as out-of-state students
  10. Ability to work with a diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • College coaching experience preferred
  • Experience with event and/or Sport Information
  • Knowledge of Region 9 Basketball and Southeast Colorado
  • Website management, video, and marketing skills
