Job Summary:
The Admissions & Advising Success Coach provides comprehensive recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and academic advising services to prospective and current students. The position supports Otero College's enrollment goals by developing relationships with prospective students, families, schools, community partners, and campus stakeholders; guiding students through the admissions and enrollment process; and assisting students in developing academic, career, and transfer plans.
The Success Coach serves as a key point of contact throughout the student enrollment journey, from initial recruitment and inquiry through enrollment, academic planning, transfer, and workforce preparation. The position requires regular interaction with students and families, collaboration across campus, community engagement, and occasional travel, evening, and weekend responsibilities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Recruitment
1. Assist the Director and participate in on- and off-campus recruitment events, including college fairs, Discovery Days, open houses, school visits, community events, and CTE recruitment opportunities.
2. Conduct individual and group campus tours, presentations, and visits, collaborating with academic programs, CTE, athletics, and other campus areas.
3. Provide prospective students and families with accurate information about Otero College's academic programs, admissions, financial aid, transfer opportunities, and student services.
4. Manage prospective student communications and follow-up through phone, email, and the College's CRM, ensuring timely and consistent engagement throughout the recruitment funnel.
5. Track recruitment activity, leads, event participation and to assist the Director in evaluating the effectiveness and inform future recruitment strategies, and represent Otero College professionally and enthusiastically while promoting the College's programs, services, and mission at schools, community events, conferences, and other public venues.
6. Travel within and outside the College's service area as needed to support recruitment and outreach activities.
Admissions & Enrollment
7. Serve as a primary resource for prospective and newly admitted students throughout the admissions, enrollment, and onboarding process.
8. Assist students with admission applications, required documentation, registration, and other enrollment requirements. Communicate with applicants regarding outstanding requirements and monitor individual progress toward becoming enrollment-ready.
9. Communicate with applicants regarding outstanding requirements and provide timely follow-up to support progression from inquiry through enrollment.
10. Coordinate with Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Academic Affairs, faculty, advisors, and other campus partners to provide a seamless enrollment experience.
11. Support the planning and implementation of new student orientation, registration, onboarding, transfer, and other enrollment-related programs and events.
12. Maintain accurate applicant and student information within designated CRM, student information, and enrollment systems.
13. Identify enrollment barriers and provide proactive outreach, referrals, and resources to help students successfully complete the enrollment process.
14. Collaborate with campus partners to identify enrollment barriers and recommend improvements to admissions and onboarding processes.
Advising
15. Provide academic, career, transfer, and workforce advising to help students make informed decisions regarding their educational and career goals.
16. Meet regularly with students to develop, review, and update individualized academic, career, transfer, and workforce plans.
17. Assist students in selecting appropriate programs, majors, courses, and educational pathways aligned with their goals.
18. Monitor academic progress and provide proactive outreach, intervention, and support to students who may be at risk of not meeting their academic or completion goals.
19. Provide information and guidance regarding degree requirements, transfer opportunities, articulation agreements, bachelor's degree programs, and statewide transfer pathways.
20. Collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, Career Services, Academic Affairs, and other campus partners to support academic planning, career exploration, internships, employment, and workforce opportunities.
21. Connect students with appropriate on- and off-campus resources and support services based on their individual academic, financial, career, and personal needs.
22. Utilize designated advising and student success technology to document student interactions, monitor progress, support student success, and participate in advising, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
23. Participate in advising committees, professional development, training, and process-improvement initiatives as assigned.
24. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in education, communications, marketing, business, counseling, student services, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience in customer service, recruitment, admissions, advising, sales, marketing, education, or a related field.
• Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, CRM/student information systems, and other technology used to support student recruitment and success.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability and willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with diverse campus and community stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in higher education, particularly in recruitment, admissions, enrollment management, or academic advising.
• Experience with CRM and student success/advising platforms such as Recruit and EAB Navigate.
• Experience working with first-generation, low-income, rural, and diverse student populations.
• Experience with event planning, community outreach, college recruitment, admissions, or academic advising.
• Knowledge of transfer pathways, articulation agreements, financial aid, career planning, and workforce development.
• Understanding of and commitment to the mission of a rural community college.
