Job Summary:

The Student Engagement & Outreach Coordinator advances student engagement, leadership, and success by leading the Office of Student Engagement & Leadership's outreach, promotional, communications, and creative services efforts. This position develops and executes promotional strategies that increase awareness of campus involvement opportunities, student resources, leadership programs, and events across a multi-campus institution. The role combines creative content development, project management, student employee supervision, and cross campus collaboration to support institutional priorities related to student retention, belonging, equity, and holistic student success.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Creative Services & Content Management

• Lead and coordinate departmental marketing, outreach, and communication initiatives that promote student engagement, leadership, and campus involvement.
• Design and produce student-facing marketing materials, including flyers, brochures, newsletters, digital signage, presentations, and promotional campaigns.
• Develop engaging graphic design, digital media, and written content for print, web, email, and social media platforms.
• Manage and maintain departmental social media accounts, content calendars, and digital engagement strategies.
• Coordinate promotional campaigns and creative projects from planning through implementation, ensuring timely completion and alignment with departmental priorities.
• Support marketing and promotion for campus events, leadership programs, student organizations, student resources, and student success initiatives.
• Maintain consistency with institutional branding, messaging, accessibility, and communication standards across all marketing materials.
• Update website content and coordinate digital communications to ensure timely and accurate information.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, departments, and community partners to support integrated communication and outreach efforts.
• Support departmental publications, special projects, and campus-wide promotional initiatives.
• Foster an inclusive, welcoming, and student-centered environment through effective communication and outreach strategies.
• Contribute to institutional goals related to student success, retention, equity, belonging, and community engagement through strategic communications and student support. Administrative Duties
• General filing, data entry, record keeping, word processing, managing inventory, ordering supplies and food.
• Support assessment and tracking for departments through tracking data and generating reports
• Assist with annual reports and strategic planning.
• Facilitate communication with Facilities Management for maintenance and repairs and ITSS for technical issues.
• Track, analyze, and report marketing and campaign performance using engagement metrics and data to inform continuous improvement.


Operational Duties

• Support with managing the office email inbox, newsletters, and communication services
• Support with monitoring lounge space and assist with the development and implementation of Centers’ guidelines.


Hourly Supervision

• Supervise student assistants, including the development of training, delegation of projects, and assessment of performance
• Manage all hourly employees’ schedules including monitoring and tracking hours, coverage, and timesheet assistance.
• Coach and assist student workers with student facing outreach opportunities, monitoring social media and advising students content calendaring
• Supervise, train, mentor, and provide daily guidance to student employees supporting marketing, communications, and outreach initiatives.
• Assign projects, monitor progress, review completed work, and provide coaching and performance feedback to student staff.
• Coordinate workflows, project timelines, and deliverables while managing multiple concurrent priorities.
Finances
• Prepare purchasing card reconciliation, purchase requisitions, payroll action requests, budget transfers, transaction reports, and interdepartmental billings.
• Arrange travel plans including airfare, hotel, car rental reservations, ground transportation arrangements, and conference registrations.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completed bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Graphic Design, Multimedia Production, Digital Media/Media Studies, Public Relations, Content Creation, Education, Higher Education Administration (with marketing experience), Business Administration (Marketing emphasis) from a regionally accredited institution OR completed associate degree with two years of professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position, OR four years professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position.

• Two years experience social media management, marketing, event promotion, graphic design.

• Two years experience in public speaking, facilitating workshops, or small group facilitation.

• One year experience with social media management, marketing, or content creation

• Demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment; must demonstrate cultural humility.

• Experience with computer and software applications relating to office management, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, Communications, Advertising, Graphic Design, Multimedia Production, Digital Media/Media Studies, Public Relations, Content Creation, Education, Higher Education Administration (with marketing experience), Business Administration (Marketing emphasis).


• Experience working in a higher education setting with traditional and nontraditional college students, student engagement, and/or community outreach.

• Supervisory Experience

• Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite

• Experience with Photography and/or videography

• Data Analytics (Instagram, Facebook, Outlook, etc.)

• Event promotion and project management

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Bilingual in Spanish and English

• Knowledge of campus and community referral resources.

Depending on your employment category and full or part-time status, Pikes Peak State College offers 15 hours a month of annual leave and 10 hours a month of sick leave accrual.
