Job Summary:

The Cultural Centers within Student Life at RRCC is seeking a Student Belonging and Inclusion Assistant serves as a peer leader, mentor, and student engagement ambassador who supports the daily operations of the Multicultural Center and Pride & Ally Center while helping foster welcoming, inclusive, and student-centered environments at Red Rocks Community College.

This role supports community-building initiatives, student engagement programming, peer mentorship, leadership development, and DEIBA-centered educational efforts designed to strengthen student belonging, connection, and campus involvement.

This position reports to Freddy Sims. The work schedule for this position is Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., at the Lakewood location. May require hours outside of normal work schedule, Arvada coverage and weekend availability.

This is a work-study position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while class is in session with an RRCC student, depending on class schedule, need, and budget availability. Student employees are enrolled and contribute to a TIAA-CREF account when enrolled in less than six credits.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
For work study employment:
1. Must be an RRCC student and have been granted a work study award for the semester the student is seeking employment and maintain eligibility.
2. Must be enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours) and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress for all credit hours.

For student hourly employment:
1. Must be an RRCC student and enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours).

Other Required Qualifications
1. Must have a commitment to equity and quality customer service and the ability to interact and communicate effectively in oral and written form with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
2. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
3. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook PowerPoint) and have advanced computer skills and experience with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom/Webex etc.).
4. Must be reliable, punctual and have a good work ethic.
5. Must be a self-starter with time-management skills and a strong attention to detail.
6. Ability to work from campus (Lakewood campus location) and be eligible for student employment.

Physical & Cognitive Demands 

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position. 

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.  

  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc. 

  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. 

  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
