Job Summary:

Do you have an Associate Degree in Welding or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience? Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge and helping others develop their welding skills? If so, Lamar Community College invites you to apply for our Part-Time Welding Instructor position.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Teach courses such as the following:

  • WEL 101 - Allied Cutting Processes Credits: 4 (1-3)
  • WEL 102 - Oxyacetylene Joining Processes Credits: 4 (1-3)
  • WEL 103 - Basic Shielded Metal Arc I Credits: 4(1-3)
  • WEL 104 - Basic Shielded Metal Arc II Credits: 4 (1-3)
  • WEL 106 - Blueprint Reading for Welders and Fitters Credits: 4(1-3)
  • WEL 110 - Advanced Shielded Metal Arc I Credits: 4 (1-3)
  • WEL 111 - Advanced Shielded Metal Arc II Credits: 4 (1-3)
  • WEL 124 - Introduction to Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Credits: 4(1-3)
  • WEL 125 - Introduction to Gas Metal Arc Welding Credits: 4(1-3)
  • WEL 202 - Gas Metal Arc Welding II Credits: 4 (1-3)
  • WEL 224 - Advanced Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Credits: 4 (1-3)
  • WEL 230 - Pipe Welding I Credits: 4 (1-3)

Actual schedule may vary based on semester course load.

  • Assist in program development and other division tasks as assigned by the Dean of Academics.
  • Participate in the development and revision of curriculum and program/course evaluation and assessment, including student learning outcomes.
  • Perform related duties in the plumbing discipline as assigned; participate in professional development activities
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter
  • Use effective teaching/learning strategies
  • Work cooperatively with other department members and the Dean of Academic Services to develop and maintain quality instruction
  • Assignment may include a combination of day, evening, and weekend courses

Ability to teach, mentor, and engage diverse student populations.
Knowledge of current industry standards, regulations, equipment, and practices.
Ability to provide hands-on instruction in laboratory, shop, clinical, or field environments.
Ability to integrate workforce competencies and industry expectations into instruction.
Ability to maintain safe learning environments and enforce safety procedures.
Ability to develop partnerships with employers, advisory committees, and industry stakeholders.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a State of Colorado resident or able to relocate to Colorado prior to first date of employment
An Associate’s Degree in welding and/or work experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree
Verifiable documentation of work experience
Ability to qualify for CTE credentialing
Comfortable navigating the challenges of teaching
Ability to demonstrate or articulate a commitment to serving all students

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching at a community college or in a higher education setting
