Trinidad State College, located in Trinidad, Colorado, is a state-supported, two-year institution of higher education. The College was established by an act of the State Legislature in 1925 and is the oldest public two-year college in the State of Colorado. The College’s Service Area includes eight rural counties characterized by low population density and small communities. One campus is located in Trinidad and is a residential campus while the other, located in Alamosa, is a commuter campus. Both campuses serve distinct populations. As a comprehensive Community College, Trinidad State College not only offers ongoing transfer Associate of Arts Degree and Associate of Applied Science (vocational) Degree programs but also has developed and implemented numerous successful short-term vocational certificate programs, and totally inclusive adult education and developmental programs.

 

Job Summary:

Trinidad State College is seeking qualified applicants for TSC Instructor positions at both the Trinidad Campus located in Trinidad, Colorado and the Alamosa Campus located in Alamosa. This is an adjunct, position that reports directly to the Dean of Instruction and Vice President of Academic Affairs. The hourly pay rate is per credit hour.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Instruct students in assigned courses in accordance with established curriculum and college procedures
- Use effective teaching methods and technologies to meet the diverse learning styles of students
- Maintain and distribute current course syllabi using the accepted template
- Maintain accurate records
- Submit grades, schedule additions, course syllabi, and other reports or required documents by established deadlines
- Be aware of and follow established policies of the State Board, CCCS, and the College
- Assess learning outcomes, demonstrate the use of assessment results in course planning, report and maintain assessment records, and participate in assessment activities
- Develop and revise curriculum to maintain the quality and relevancy of course offerings
- Notify the Vice President of Academic Affairs if the faculty member is going to be absent from work. This notification should be made in a timely manner.
- Discuss with appropriate personnel any problems of students, which may require special attention and provide records as needed
- Review and select appropriate textbooks and maintain classroom supplies as needed for successful teaching of assigned classes
Incorporate learning resources and technologies in courses whenever possible
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain a current knowledge of subject matter and teaching methodology
- Meet all classes as scheduled
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours
- Adhere to professional standards of conduct
- Other duties as assigned

Competencies/KSAs:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

- Associate of Applied Science in related field; required field experience per CCCS Administrator’s Handbook guidelines
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be agreeable to working with a diverse population and with all ranges of student abilities
- Must have a strong commitment and positive attitude toward Community College instruction

This position is responsible for development of student training and awareness programming for the athletic team regarding unlawful discrimination and harassment prevention, which includes sexual misconduct, in collaboration with the Equal Opportunity/Title IX Coordinator for the College as well as the College Athletic Director.

This position is responsible for development of primary prevention and awareness programs for the athletic team for incoming students as well as ongoing prevention and awareness campaigns pursuant to the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act on dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, in collaboration with College staff responsible with overseeing Clery Act compliance.
