POSITION SUMMARY

The Community College of Aurora (CCA) is a dynamic institution that strives to serve its diverse staff and student population founded on principles of equity and inclusion. As a Guided Pathways College, we believe in providing our students with a stellar seamless experience from first contact, until they reach their academic goal. Our Academic Coaches/Advisors are an integral part of assuring our students are equipped with the information, resources, and tools to be successful on their academic journey.

Academic Advisors are caring, enthusiastic, hard-working, and passionate staff who work collaboratively within enrollment management and student success entities. They develop intentional student support services along each student’s pathway to encourage growth and contribute to successful degree/certificate completion at CCA. Academic Advisors provide proactive, intentional, and developmental academic advising and career coaching for students in alignment with their Guided Pathways. Our Academic Advisors support students by helping them to explore educational and career goals proactively, navigate their Academic Course Maps, track academic progression and completion towards a degree/certificate, and proactively intervene as necessary for inside and outside of the classroom student support. Academic Advisors also provide transfer information, make campus and community referrals as needed, and engage in basic financial aid conversations with students.

Academic Advisors are instrumental in creating a welcoming environment for students through intentional communication, excellent interaction, and proactive student-centered engagement that promotes a sense of belonging for all current and future CCA students.  The Lead Academic Advisor will exemplify all the attributes and characteristics of an Academic Advisor, providing leadership and supervision along with assistance in the coordination of advising services.
