Job Summary:
The Adjunct Instructor for Early Childhood Education possesses the academic and practical expertise to guide student learning and success, and to serve as a mentor and model for students. The Adjunct Instructor of Early Childhood Education is experienced in early childhood education or a closely related field. This position will demonstrate strong instructional skills and engage a diverse student body using traditional, nontraditional, and innovative methods of instruction and effectively structure classes and curriculum to support program and course outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Adjunct Instructor for Early Childhood Education is responsible for instructing assigned classes or delivering on-line content consistent with CCCS, CCD, and department policies. Course content will adhere to the learning objectives of the regular syllabus and, with department policies. The Adjunct Instructor for Early Childhood Education is available, either face to face or electronically, to students in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
Competencies/KSAs:
Strong knowledge of early childhood education including child development, guidance practices, and teaching practices, and successful handling of day-to-day classroom routines.
Broad knowledge of the Colorado General rules and Regulations for Childcare, the Colorado Competencies for Early Childhood Educators and Administrators, and the Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
A master’s degree or higher in early childhood education.
Also Allowed
A master's degree or higher in child development, early childhood education, human development, curriculum and instruction, or home economics.
Or a consumer studies master's degree or higher with a specialization in child development or early childhood education
Or a master’s degree or higher in educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education.
Tested Occupational Experience:
Evaluated based on general guidelines.
Tested Professional Experience:
2,000 hours of occupational experience in early childhood education or licensure to work in early childhood education
