Job Summary:
Arapahoe Community College is seeking a detail-oriented and student-focused professional to serve as the Graduation & Prior Learning Assessment Coordinator. This position oversees the graduation conferral process and prior learning assessment (PLA) programs, helping students navigate degree completion and receive credit for eligible prior learning experiences. The Coordinator works closely with students, faculty, advisors, and college departments to ensure accurate program audits, timely conferral of degrees and certificates, and effective administration of PLA opportunities.
This role combines student support, process improvement, data analysis, and cross-campus collaboration to enhance student success and completion outcomes. The ideal candidate is an exceptional problem solver and communicator who can manage complex processes, provide outstanding customer service, and maintain accuracy across multiple systems and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage graduation application, degree conferral, diploma production, and completion-related processes.
- Advise students, faculty, and staff on graduation requirements, completion options, and program audits.
- Administer and expand Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) opportunities in accordance with college and state guidelines.
- Evaluate PLA documentation and award eligible credit based on established policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to improve degree completion, curriculum, and student success processes.
- Support degree audit systems, curriculum management activities, and transcript evaluation functions.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain graduation, conferral, and PLA data to support reporting and continuous improvement efforts.
- Promote exceptional service and help students successfully achieve their educational goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR an equivalent amount of education & experience may substitute for the education requirement, but will not count towards the experience requirements below.
- Higher education experience working in direct student contact situations/roles
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of FERPA and other federal and state statutes regarding college operations and student records
- Experience in Microsoft Excel
- Experience working in student information systems
- Experience working with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Banner student information system
- Degree audit software administration experience
- Degree conferral experience
- Prior Learning Assessment process experience
- Ability to thoroughly research and troubleshoot complex issues and be solution-focused
- Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
- Experience working at a community college
