Job Summary:
Lamar Community College (LCC) is seeking qualified adjunct instructors to join its instructional team. Adjunct faculty play a vital role in fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment that empowers students to achieve academic and personal success. These part-time positions operate under the supervision of the Academic Dean.
LCC maintains an ongoing pool of qualified adjunct instructors to meet instructional and departmental needs. Appointments are made as openings arise, and assignments may include teaching courses, delivering presentations, or providing instructional support when full-time faculty or current instructors are unavailable.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Class preparation and instruction.
Grading and record keeping.
Student communication and support outside of the scheduled class time.
Timely communication with peers and supervisors.
Participation in department meetings, when possible.
Active instructors are expected to participate in all mandatory compliance training courses.
Additional responsibilites depending on the course.
Competencies/KSAs:
Knowledge of subject matter, instructional methods, curriculum development, and assessment practices.
Strong communication, organization, and technology skills.
Ability to teach, mentor, and engage diverse student populations.
Ability to develop curriculum, assess learning outcomes, and provide academic advising.
Ability to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and community partners.
Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, adaptability, and commitment to student success.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a State of Colorado resident or able to relocate to Colorado prior to first date of employment
- Master’s degree in subject matter field, or any Master’s degree and at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline to be taught
- Comfortable navigating the challenges of teaching
- Ability to demonstrate or articulate a commitment to serving all students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience with preference for college-level teaching
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic, economical, educational, gender, and/or disability backgrounds
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Selection Process:
One round interview process with Dean of Academics and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
