Job Summary:
The Student Recreation Center at RRCC is seeking a Personal Trainer to provide safe, effective, and individualized fitness instruction to clients with diverse fitness levels, abilities, and goals. Personal Trainers will design customized training programs, conduct assessments, and motivate clients to develop lifelong healthy habits. The position reports to the Fitness & Operations Coordinator.
The work schedule for this position operates during the Student Recreation Center’s normal operating hours (Monday–Friday, 7:00am–7:00pm at the Lakewood Campus). May require hours outside of normal work schedule, including evenings and weekends based on client needs.
This is a student employee position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while class is in session and up to 28 hours each week during academic breaks or breaks between terms while an RRCC student, depending on class schedule, need, and budget availability. Student employees are enrolled and contribute to a TIAA-CREF account when enrolled in less than six credits.

Required Qualifications
For work study employment:
- Must be an RRCC student and have been granted a work study award for the semester the student is seeking employment and maintain eligibility.
- Must be enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours) and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress for all credit hours.
For student hourly employment:
- Must be an RRCC student and enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours).
- Must hold a current, nationally recognized personal training certification recognized by the NCCA (i.e., ACSM, ACE, NASM, NSCA, or ISSA).
- Must be certified in Adult First Aid, CPR, and AED training (in-person) or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire (SRC can provide).
- Must be able to train a minimum of 2 clients per week per semester (fall and spring).
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year of documented personal training experience in a college/university, corporate, or community fitness setting.
- Background or education in health, wellness, kinesiology, or exercise science.
- Experience conducting fitness assessments and writing individualized training programs.
- Earned an advanced degree (i.e. Associates, Bachelors, and or Masters) in health, fitness, nutrition, exercise science, or related field.
- Experience working with diverse communities and supporting the success of underrepresented populations.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
- Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
- This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
Advertised Hourly Pay
The hourly pay for this position is $19.81, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA non-exempt position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while class is in session and up to 28 hours each week during academic breaks or breaks between terms while an RRCC student, depending on need and budget availability. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

Benefits
Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need. Sick leave is granted in accordance with SB20-205, Sick Leave for Employees, accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
Instructors and non-student hourly are required to contribute to Colorado PERA at a fixed percentage of their salary and do not contribute to Social Security. RRCC/CCCS student employees are not eligible to participate in PERA. RRCC/CCCS offers three tax-deferred investment plans, including 401(k), 403(b) and 457.
