Job Summary:

Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) invites applications for a part-time Computer Technology Instructor to join our dynamic and student-centered academic team. This temporary, non-classified position offers up to 28 hours per week for a duration of up to nine months, depending on departmental needs and budget availability. The instructor will deliver high-quality instruction across various computer-related disciplines such as Cyber Security, Networking, Programming, Web Development, and more.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to engaging and inclusive teaching practices, adaptable to a diverse community college population. Instruction may occur in face-to-face, hybrid, remote, or online formats, and may include daytime, evening, or weekend classes. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering course content, maintaining accurate student records in the learning management system (D2L), and providing timely feedback and communication with students and staff.

Instructors are expected to actively contribute to the department through regular meetings, service to students, and the integration of current technologies and culturally responsive teaching methods. This position is ideal for those with practical industry experience who are passionate about student success and lifelong learning.

*Compensation is based on credit/contact hours and ranges from $1,177.73 to $1,294.58 per credit hour*

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach students using traditional and alternative methods of instruction.

• Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom where appropriate.

• Knowledge of computer applications. Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Knowledge of instructional objectives and course development techniques.

• Skills with managing, preparing, and delivering courses in the classroom and in the field. Ability to give and receive oral and written instructions and procedures.

• Have some knowledge working with D2L or a similar LMS.


Required Qualifications

• An Associates Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Networking, Cyber Security, or a closely related field (Education, Mathematics, Engineering).

• Applicants must possess or be eligible to receive a CTE Credential in Information Systems in order to qualify for this position. This requires documenting verified, paid or unpaid occupational experience in the credential area within the last 7 years. For an applicant with a related bachelor’s degree or higher the occupational experience is 2,000 hours; for an applicant with an Associate’s degree, the occupational experience is 4,000 hours.

• The ability to teach in one of the following Computer related fields (Cyber Security, Networking, Computer Science / Secure Code Development, Programming, Game Development, Web Development, Computer System Analyst, and/or Database Administration

Preferred Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Networking, Cyber Security, or a closely related field (Education, Mathematics, Engineering).

• Demonstrated teaching or training experience.

• Experience in at least one of the following: curriculum development,
supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.

• Fluent in multiple operating systems as well as virtual environments and system.

• Current industry and vendor certifications (Comptia, Linux, Microsoft, Oracle).

• Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.

Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

• Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.

• This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.

• The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

• Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Hourly Pay

The hourly pay for this position is $1,177.73 - $1,294.58/credit hour, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.

This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

Benefits

Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need. Sick leave is granted in accordance with SB20-205, Sick Leave for Employees, accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.

Instructors and non-student hourly are required to contribute to Colorado PERA at a fixed percentage of their salary and do not contribute to Social Security. RRCC/CCCS student employees are not eligible to participate in PERA. RRCC/CCCS offers three tax-deferred investment plans, including 401(k), 403(b) and 457. Employee assistance services such as counseling, professional coaching, financial planning, and more, are available to you and members of your household at no cost through the Colorado State Employee Assistance Program (C-SEAP). State employees are eligible to participate in BenefitHub which offers discounts for retailers and services and other benefits resources.
