Who We Are:

With three campuses along Colorado’s Front Range, FRCC is the state’s largest community college. We enroll close to 28,000 students annually from our diverse service area, which offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities.

Job Summary:

Upward Bound (UB) is a federal TRIO Program designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds, supplementing their existing education and preparing them for academic success at all educational levels. This position will provide tutoring support and one-on-one mentorship opportunities for TRIO UB participants. This position will also provide administrative and programmatic support to TRIO UB. The primary objective of this position is to increase the grades, SAT Scores, and preparation of UB participants through high school and beyond.

Part-time hours and schedule are somewhat variable per semester and cannot exceed 28 hours per week. This position is for 15-20 hours per week.

This position may have the opportunity to work remotely occasionally but does require a strong on-campus presence at both Westminster Campus and Westminster High School.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide tutoring and test taking support to students.
  • Support in the mentoring of UB Students.
  • Assist Director and Advisor in filing required paperwork for Grant Compliance.
  • Progress monitors student academic plans and progress, academic schedule, choice of major, and other academic activities and career goals, to assist the student in making decisions concerning personal educational goals leading to graduation.
  • Create and maintain media materials and communication channels for TRIO UB Students.
  • Support in the Facilitation of weekly workshops.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current college student enrolled in at least 6 credits.
  • Completed (or currently be enrolled) in 24 College-Level credits including at least 6 credits earned in subjects capable of being tutored.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Suite, internet, and general computer troubleshooting.
  • Able to commit to 15-20 hours a week.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teams, show initiative, follow-through, creative and critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work both at FRCC Westminster Campus and Westminster High School.

Selection Process:

The selection process for this position will be conducted through a competitive, merit-based evaluation of all qualified applicants. Preliminary screening will be based on the completed application package submitted by the candidate.

Additional Information/Benefits:

Salary Information: The pay for tutors is calculated based on the following information reflecting education and years of teaching/tutoring.

  • No Degree: $20.00 hourly
  • Certificate, AA/AS Degree, or Equivalent: $22.00 hourly
  • BA/BS Degree or Equivalent: $24.50 hourly
  • MA/MS Degree or Above: $27.00 hourly

Education must be related to the area in which they are tutoring for placement.
