Job Summary:
The Science, Engineering, and Math Division serves a wide-ranging student population, from students currently in high school to adult learners returning to education after many years. Our division strives to assist all students and visitors who call or come into our office.
The Engineering Lab Assistant helps PPSC engineering instructors prepare for, conduct, and clean up after engineering design labs. A workload of up to 20 hours per week is anticipated. This work will take place at both the Centennial and Rampart campuses. Because this work directly supports scheduled engineering labs, the student must be on-campus, in the lab classroom prior to, during and immediately following the lab. Other support activities will be necessary and can be performed at times convenient to the Lab Assistant and the faculty.
Ability to work evenings and travel to multiple campuses to support student and department needs.
This position is temporary part-time, not to exceed 28 hours per week.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Support PPSC Engineering instructor(s) in the preparation for and execution of engineering design labs
Set up and take down labs as needed
Organize team supplies
Prepare lab materials
Assist the instructor with supervision of student activities during labs
Actively support students during labs as needed
Help the instructor mentor students with course content
Support students with limited math background during more math-intensive topics
Keep inventory of all supplies
Manage requests for new supplies or replenishing old
Print materials as needed
Competencies/KSAs:
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft 365.
Skills in organization with strict attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
Position requires willingness to learn lab preparation
Willing to work with others lab personnel and faculty.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED ($17 per hour)
High school diploma, or GED and preferred qualifications ($18-19 per hour)
Completed Associate degree ($19 per hour)
Completed Associate degree and preferred qualifications ($20 per hour)
Completed Bachelors Degree ($21 per hour)
Completed Bachelors Degree and preferred qualifications ($22-25 per hour)
Basic understanding of engineering concepts and laboratory practices
Basic understanding of 3D printing and additive manufacturing
Ability to safely operate and work around laboratory equipment, hand tools, and 3D printers
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, laboratory procedures, and safety protocols
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to communicate effectively with instructors, staff, and students
Ability to organize lab materials, supplies, and equipment
Ability to provide assistance to students in a professional and supportive manner
Ability to work on campus before, during, and immediately following scheduled engineering labs
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous hands-on experience with 3D printing or additive manufacturing
Experience preparing, slicing, and troubleshooting 3D-print files
Experience with FDM/FFF 3D printing technologies
Experience using Bambu Lab 3D printers, including printer setup, filament loading, calibration, print monitoring, and basic troubleshooting
Experience using Formlabs Form 4L or other resin-based 3D printing systems
Experience using Stratasys 3D printers or other professional/industrial additive manufacturing equipment

Pikes Peak State College participates in Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA) contribution rates. State employees are required to a mandatory contribution of a percentage of their salary to the plan, and the college contributes a percentage as well. While you are enrolled in PERA, you do not pay Social Security. In addition, there are supplemental retirement plans available through three other vendors.

Temporary hourly employees earn one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked.
Temporary hourly employees are eligible for the Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI).
