Job Summary:

As a Supplemental Instruction Leader (SIL) within the Sciences department, you will be a completer from historically challenging courses embedded in the classroom who facilitates small study groups of students currently enrolled in the challenging course in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. Develop learning activities by facilitating the comparison of notes, discussion of readings and the development of the organizational tools associated with the difficult material presented in the course.

This position does have the opportunity to work remotely occasionally but does require a strong on-campus presence.

Part-time hours and schedule are somewhat variable per semester and cannot exceed 28 hours per week.

Please note: You need to be a Colorado resident on your first day of employment. Also, Front Range Community College is an E-Verify employer.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work 8-12 hours per week.
  • Attend all class meetings.
  • Support instructor during class with activities and discussions.
  • Conduct two or more study sessions per week.
  • Focus on re-framing and reviewing current class topics.
  • Communicate regularly with the course instructor.
  • Attend SIL team meetings for support and to develop your leadership and facilitation skills.
  • Support and care about student success.
  • Follow all procedures and policies set by the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program and Science SI Coordinators.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned a grade of B+ or higher in the selected course.

Selection Process:

The selection process for this position will be conducted through a competitive, merit-based evaluation of all qualified applicants. Preliminary screening will be based on the completed application package submitted by the candidate.

Additional Information/Benefits:

Salary Information: The pay range for part-time Supplemental Instruction Leaders varies. Pay is calculated based on the following education and experience:

  • No Degree: $17.30 hourly (or $18.14 hourly with Previous SIL Experience)
  • Applicable Certificate/AA/AAS/AS or higher: $17.71 hourly (or $18.60 hourly with Previous SIL Experience)
