Job Summary:

The Program Director of Health Sciences Simulation Operations shall assist in the operational oversight and delivery of simulation-based learning across the Interdisciplinary Simulation Center. The position is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of simulation experiences in alignment with Health Sciences curriculum objectives, CCCS guidelines, and current best practices in healthcare simulation. The role shall collaborate with faculty to implement safe, inclusive, and effective learning environments that foster interprofessional education and reflect the continuum of care within healthcare professions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completed master's degree in a healthcare related field, or education from a regionally accredited institution.
• Minimum of 1 year working with simulation platforms and the ability to operate and support simulation technology used in educational environments.
• Two years of experience leading and managing teams.
• Currently pursuing the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator Advanced (CHSE-A) or ability to complete within 12 months of hire date.
• Demonstrated experience with MS Office or the ability to work with rapidly changing technologies.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completed terminal degree in a healthcare related field, or education from a regionally accredited institution.
• Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator Advanced (CHSE-A).
• Experience coordinating interprofessional education (IPE) simulations involving multiple healthcare disciplines.
• Familiarity with healthcare accreditation standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Administrative Functions
• Develop strategies to enhance programs and services, utilizing available resources to create a realistic learning environment.
• Oversee data collection to evaluate student learning outcomes that comply with academic standards for healthcare education.
• Provide the leadership required to ensure that simulation meets standards of quality assurance for breadth and depth of education, and user expectations.
• Promote the interests of the Interdisciplinary Simulation Center through participation in public relations events, development of new markets for simulation use, community outreaches, and serving on professional/civic service organizations and committee meetings.
• Lead and support instructional initiatives that integrate simulation into curriculum including standardized participants and interprofessional education.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate new models for managing student simulated based learning experiences (e.g., scheduling simulations, staffing considerations, etc.).
• Facilitate tours and orientations as needed to promote programs.
• Organize materials to track various projects, maintain files, and follow through with assignments to completion.
Educational Functions
• Collaborate with all healthcare teams to develop and maintain a student rotation schedule for high impact simulated-based learning.
• Design, develop, implement, and evaluate new scenarios and educational initiatives in collaboration with Health Sciences course faculty and content experts.
• Maintain simulation practices in accordance with INACSL Standards of Best Practice for Healthcare Simulation.
• Collaborate with Health Sciences faculty to evaluate and validate existing simulation-based educational modalities, simulation development, and curricular integration consistent with trends in healthcare education and practice in support of the Simulation Accreditation Standards and the Policy and Procedure Manual.
• Provide a safe, supportive learning environment for students that promotes active learning, refinement of critical thinking/clinical judgment skills and reflective practice as an integral component of healthcare education.
• Orient, train, and evaluate new simulation facilitators and/ new standardized participants (actors).
• Maintain and analyze instructor and student simulation evaluation tools to measure learning outcomes.
• Perform data analysis to evaluate learning and report findings to Executive Dean of Health Sciences.
Community Participation
• Actively engage with relevant communities through participation and leadership in organizations such as the International Nursing Association for Simulation and Learning (INACSL), the Human Patient Simulation Network (HPSN), the Association for Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE), and/or the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
• Serve as the liaison to internal and external stakeholders and/or community partners to promote and facilitate a collaborative approach for supporting safe simulated-based learning opportunities for students.
• Develop and grow a community-based simulation plan for continuing education.
Budget and Personnel
• Supervise Simulation Educators, Standardized Participants, and the Simulation Center Assistant.
• Manage the simulation budget and the use of the simulation center resources including labs and personnel.
• Recommend equipment and resources needed to facilitate effective simulation teaching and learning to Executive Dean of Health Sciences, Discipline Chairs, and Simulation Educators.

• Maintain learner confidentiality.
• Work independently as well as work in a team setting.
