This is a grant funded position with a grant end date of December 31, 2026. This position is contingent upon funding.
CCD’s Center for Workforce Initiatives (CWI) offers programs in Adult and Workforce Education, Career Connected Learning, and Custom Corporate Training. Through these programs, CWI serves as a coordinating hub for the college’s noncredit courses and work-based learning opportunities, as well as Adult Education, employer education programs, and community workforce development partnerships. Our programs connect job seekers, students, and workers with employment and upskilling opportunities in targeted industries. CWI serves as a coordinating hub or “backbone” support organization for several community-driven workforce partnerships, including WORKNOW, a construction employment platform
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Intake Navigator Position assists the Center for Workforce Initiative’s workforce programs by providing navigation support to applicants and enrollees. This position requires the navigator to outreach to new and existing members, be up to date with partner programs that support career advancement- including dates, eligibility, and start dates- and make referral connections to and from community partner organizations. Position may also entail helping people complete enrollment or registration into workforce or training programs, including language and skills building opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Marketing and Outreach
• Communicate and market workforce programs and resources such as WORKNOW to interested applicants and newly enrolled members
• Facilitate registration, intake, assessment, and orientation of incoming students.
• Participate in program-wide presentations to potential applicants, partners, or workforce organizations
Navigation and Coaching Support
• Connect with new and existing WORKNOW or workforce program members to understand needs and barriers to work and training
• Onboard new members and help them navigate available services, trainings, and job opportunities.
• Coordinate follow-up retention efforts with new members and alumni
• Help members access requested retention support services
• Make follow up calls, emails or texts to potential candidates and provide information by answering questions and requests related to the WORKNOW resources, partners and programs (in person, via phone line or through email/text responding to on-line interest forms);
Record Keeping and Monitoring
• Track and maintain records of student progress to meet their goals
• Perform general clerical duties to include, but not limited to copying, mailing, scheduling meetings and filing using direct entry and electronic platforms including Excel, Microsoft Teams, Google Docs, and cloud-based data systems.
• Monitor course completion and coordinate the next steps of learner’s pathway, including support registering for classes and accessing scholarships, or accessing coaching and resource services
• Support data entry collection and reporting required for grant or program management in partnership with Operations Manager
Competencies/KSAs:
- Ability to use interpersonal skills and professional communication to connect with various stakeholders (community partners, job seekers, businesses, and teammates) and build lasting and mutual partnerships.
- Ability to explain programs to different audiences based on their needs, interested, and values. Information will be shared in a variety of ways, including email, text, one-on-one or group meetings, and public information sessions (public speaking).
- Strong time management and record keeping skills.
- Ability to pay attention to details so that follow through is timely and tasks are being executed.
- Ability to work as a team player with other staff in order to create a collaborative and inclusive environment for CWI and CCD members.
- Experience with or ability to learn career coaching or advising strategies
- Strong digital skills- frequently used applications include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint, Forms and Outlook); Comfortable learning new software platforms
- Knowledge of workforce development and career building resources, particularly in the construction industry.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent combination of experience, knowledge, and abilities)
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of general office experience , including data entry, required
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience-required
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience:
- Two years working in a higher ed environment
- Minimum of 1 year of community-based case management work preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish & English- Ability to execute the information sharing tasks in both English and Spanish preferred
Knowledge of local construction training or community organization partners preferred
Other Considerations:
- Prescribe and practice ethical behavior
- Set goals and objectives based on the needs capabilities of the population served
Equipment Used:
Desktop computer, LCD projector, standard office equipment. Knowledge of computer applications, including spreadsheets, or database programs, CRMs, and form fillers, particularly Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), Formstack, and Campus CE or other non-credit enrollment platforms
Selection Process:
Preliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application packet submitted by candidate.
